One of my passions is reading. I have been an avid reader since I was a child. I enjoy a variety of subjects. I would like to share my latest read with you.
I just finished The Persimmon Tree by Bryce Courtenay. I found it a well written story about a young man and woman, based in the Dutch East Indies, during the Second World War. Courtenay has a way of being descriptive and you feel that you can see what he is talking about, yet not so much so, that it would be boring.
Although this story was fiction, Courtenay doesn't gloss over the reality of the time frame that he writing about. That being said, some of the content is dark, but necessary. I found the book just flows so well right to the very end. As I put the book down after the final page, I felt I had a little appreciation of what people went through during that time and with most really good stories, I learned a little something as well.
I rate this book as excellent.
I hope you enjoy it as well
